Millions of women marched around the United States and cities around the world to show their support to other women, moms and girls against the new President, Donald Trump. This is the first time I get to experience something as such, and this time, not only reporting from the sidelines but from other perspectives such as those of LGBT rights, Women’s Rights, the “Black Lives Matter” Movement, immigrants’ rights, basic human rights and so many others.

As an immigrant, I felt the movement as part of me, as one of those times I felt that, despite still holding a Colombian passport, I feel as American as everyone else who was at the Women’s March.

To add to the movement, It was great to see that, while I was having the experience in New York, many other women were having it in Washington D.C., where Madonna, Gina Rodríguez, Rosario Dawson, Diane Guerrero and many other Latina actresses, singers and stars felt the same. Cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Paris London and different countries all over the world lived the same experience, drawing crowds of women, men and supporters from various movements.

By far one of the greatest experience I’ve had. The people, the place, the crowd and the moment was definitely worth living and it shows many of us that chances can be created if we speak out, make our voices be heard and stand up for ourselves.

The goal of Women’s March:

To march against an administration and party that will try to undo all the progress of the Obama administration in terms of equal rights for all people. But most importantly, protect women’s choice to do with their bodies what they please and to protect planned parenthood which is one of the largest general healthcare providers for them and their families in the country including cancer screenings, STD screenings, and general sex education.
